Alumni Spotlights

In 1964, Tim Mowrer graduated from MHS. Following graduation, he served two years in the United States Army, spending 18 months in Germany. He later earned an associate's degree in business administration from International Junior College and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Liberty University. Tim moved to Fort Wayne in 1971 and worked in management accounting for mostly three companies: food distribution, a go-kart manufacturer, and a printing company, with a few temp jobs thrown in the mix. Tim is happily retired and lives near Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has two children and four grandchildren.

JoJoyce graduated from Manchester High School in 1966. She got a BS in Nursing from Goshen College and a MS in Public Health and Pediatrics from Chapel Hill, NC. Her nursing career has spanned many areas of practice, including her own healthcare consulting business and a current organic supplements and beauty products web business at www.amhealthbeaty.com, and involved working both in the US and overseas, including the mission field for several years. She enjoys helping others be the healthiest they can be physically, mentally and spiritually.

Nancy graduated from Manchester High School in 1968. After earning her bachelor’s degree in English and French Education from Purdue University, she completed her Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from St. Francis College and her Administrative license from Indiana University in Fort Wayne. She taught at Concord, Tippecanoe Valley and Benton Central before coming to Manchester High School as a guidance counselor/assistant athletic director in 1985. She became principal of Manchester High School in 1997 and retired from that position in 2016. She loved her career in education, especially the 31 years she spent at Manchester HighSchool!

After graduating from MHS in 1971, Jane pursued an international relations major at Indiana University and American University School of International Service (Wash DC) where she received a Bachelors Degree in Soviet Area Studies. She then spent a couple of years in Moscow and realized that international business was a better fit for her. In 1982 she received a Masters Degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management, known as Thunderbird (Phoenix AZ) and then spent 28 years developing business around the world for high tech companies. Later Jane became a Foreign Service Officer for the US Department of Commerce, assisting US companies with their exports. This incredible journey took her to 67 countries and allowed her to learn six languages.

Graduating with the class of 1975 and working in many interesting areas of employment has led Brian to his current position as Facility Manager of the Charlevoix Public Library, where he has been employed for eight years. Over his working life, Brian has held many diverse positions, such as Ace Hardware store clerk and manager (11 years), North Manchester Parks & Recreation Director (12 years), Rogers City (Michigan) Harbor Master (5 years) as well as various retail establishments, all of which have allowed him to develop skills that that he applies daily in his current position. Brian’s spouse, (1974 graduate) Davonne Rogers’ employment at the Charlevoix Public Library led Brian back to working in the public sector, where he appreciates offering service by maintaining a 1927 school building, renovated in 2006 to become the Charlevoix Public Library.

Matt graduated Manchester High School in 1982, attended Indiana State University with degrees in accountancy and Information Systems. Having passed the CPA exam, Matt worked in a Big 6 public accounting firm (Indianapolis) for eight years, then worked in a CFO/ Controller role before pursuing his entrepreneurial interests with the founding of Apollo Caster, Inc. (a material handling distribution firm located in Huntington, IN) in 2006. The prior job experiences seemed to lay the perfect foundation to prepare for creating and running a new company and he enjoys being involved in all aspects of this small business. Matt married Sara Schilling in 1988 and they have three grown children

Chris graduated from Manchester High School in 2004. Following graduation, he received his degree in Mathematics at Indiana University Bloomington and his MBA at IPFW. Chris has since worked in Corporate Finance for numerous companies in both public and private sectors. At the end of 2021, Chris, his wife, and three young children relocated back to the North Manchester area, where he now serves as the Vice President of Finance for Midwest Eye Consultants in Wabash. Chris loves sitting down with business leaders to help them understand their business from a financial perspective and ultimately make strategic decisions based on numbers and data.

Stan graduated from Manchester High School in 2005. While attending Manchester High School, he spent two years at Heartland Career Center in the Building Trades class. His senior year, he was employed by a local builder and has been working in the construction industry ever since. He enjoys his job since it presents him with new challenges every day. When a job is finished, he can look back and see what he has accomplished, knowing that he has created something that people will enjoy for years to come. Stan also uses his trade to help individuals who are in need of repairs but are unable to do so themselves.
